On May 1, 2024, Xiamen Airlines and the People's Government of Putian City signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on Meizhou Island, Putian City. Fu Zhaoyang, Secretary of the CPC Putian Municipal Committee, and Lin Xuyang, Mayor of Putian City, met with Zhao Dong, President and Secretary of the Party Committee of Xiamen Airlines, and Xie Bing, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and attended the signing ceremony together. Gao Yu, Member of the Standing Committee and Secretary General of the CPC Putian Municipal Committee, Zhu Zhengyang, Member of the Party Committee and Vice Mayor of the People's Government of Putian City, Chen Li, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of Xiamen Airlines, and other leaders attended the ceremony.

On the 23rd day of the third lunar month, also the birthday of Mazu, Mayor Lin Xuyang put in his speech at the 1,064th Anniversary of Mazu's Birthday and the Spring Sacrifice Ceremony, "We're looking forward to working with Xiamen Airlines to continue to expand the international influence of Mazu culture".

At the signing ceremony, the Management Committee of Meizhou Island National Tourism Resort and the Board of Directors of Meizhou Mazu Temple respectively awarded Xiamen Airlines the plaque of "Strategic Partner of the 'World Mazu Culture Forum'" and the plaque of "Air Transport Cooperation Unit of 'Mazu Patrol around the World' and 'Mazu Returning to Meizhou Island'". In this strategic cooperation, Xiamen Airlines will rely on our route network covering six continents and extensive overseas institutions to carry out Mazu culture-related theme activities and a series of patrol and pilgrimage folk activities, and provide transport services for returning pilgrimage groups and overseas patrol and pilgrimage groups; promote Mazu culture by our publicity matrixes at home and abroad and tell Chinese stories in combination with Mazu culture on the international stage; take advantage of our own upstream and downstream industries to support the export of high-quality agricultural products in Putian, deepen cooperation in various fields such as cultural tourism, hotels, catering, health care, cultural and creative industries, and help Putian build its city brand.

Xiamen Airlines have always been a pioneer and practitioner in promoting and popularizing Mazu culture. In 1997, the golden statue of Mazu in Meizhou was invited to Taiwan for patrol and pilgrimage; in 2001, a Fujian delegation participated in the First Mazu Cultural Tourism Festival in Macao; later the golden statue of Mazu was invited to Macao and Southeast Asia for patrol and pilgrimage. All these activities were carried out under our strong transport guarantee, and caused widespread and positive social response. We carefully planned special services for the golden statue of Mazu invited for patrol and pilgrimage, such as "printing exclusive boarding passes and setting up exclusive seats", receiving high attention from mainstream media and the public and accelerating the overseas spread of Mazu culture.
