Xiamen Airlines officially moved its operations to Daxing International Airport

On the 29th of March 2020, Xiamen Airlines’ flights to and from Beijing were transferred to Beijing Daxing International Airport for operations. It was the only one of the major airlines in the country to make a one-time transfer move.

Daxing Airport is located 46 km south from Tiananmen Square and 55 km from Xiong’an New District. The airport makes the travelling experiences of passengers faster and more convenient through an “Innovative concept”. Flight time can be saved by 15-20 minutes for flights flying in and out of Daxing Airport from the south and east of China . The runway is very close to the plane parking area. No matter which runway the plane takes off and lands, the time required for the ground gliding can be shortened, and around 15-20 minutes can be saved .Therefore, the total time saved from the air plus the ground gliding is about 40 minutes. The unique waiting corridor design allows passengers to walk to any gate within 8 minutes after the security inspection. Moreover, there is an international transfer hall in the airport, where the transfer for international or domestic flights only take 60 minutes, and the transfer time can be saved 1 hour and 30 minutes respectively.

According to the transition plan, from 29th March to 2nd May, Xiamen Airlines will operate 44 flights per day in Daxing covering 9 destinations including Xiamen, Fuzhou, Quanzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Changsha, Chongqing, Haikou and Sanya.

After implementing the new season launch on 3rd May, Xiamen Airlines will operate 54 flights daily at Daxing Airport during summer season and 66 flights daily during winter season. The network will cover almost 20 destinations including Xiamen, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Changsha, Chongqing and Fuzhou.

By 2025, Xiamen Airlines plans to invest more than 50 aircrafts at Daxing Airport, and focus on building the large-passenger-traffic airlines with sky shuttle routes from Daxing Airport to Fujian, East China, South West China etc., to build an air network flying to main domestic cities and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions from Daxing Airport, ,radiating to Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia.
